Event dates: July 2, 2026–July 25, 2026

`Anela Shie

~Profile~

Resides in Yoshikawa City, Saitama Prefecture. A resin artist who uses epoxy resin to express memories of the sea and the beauty of nature.

Even while living in a landlocked area, she draws inspiration from the crystal-clear blue skies, the scent of the sea breeze, and the sound of the waves rolling in and out that she encountered on the islands of Okinawa. She encapsulates these scenes, etched into her senses as “memories of the sea,” within layers of transparent resin, carefully transforming each one into a work of art.

In June 2023, she transitioned into the world of creation from a field unrelated to art. In November of the same year, she began studying under Yuji Hamamura, the director of the Hui Kai Art Association, learning a unique ripple art technique that involves layering natural materials such as real coral sand, natural stones, and seashells. Her works, which delicately capture even the shadows of light and ripples swaying on the seabed, bring healing and peace to the hearts of many people.

In addition to her own creative activities, she is actively engaged in promoting resin art and nurturing the next generation of artists. Through supporting art by people with disabilities and conducting local workshops, she aims to realize a society where “everyone can experience the joy of self-expression.”

`Anela Shie's Commitment

Every year, without fail, I visit the seas of Okinawa. Diving deep into those beautiful waters and experiencing firsthand the overwhelming beauty of nature and the radiant vitality that abounds there—these are the primal landscapes that inspire my work.

Going beyond technical precision, I use epoxy resin to give form to the transparent, azure world I actually saw and felt underwater, as well as the emotions that resonated with all five of my senses.

To infuse my works with a rich breath of life, I pay particular attention to capturing the dynamic forms of living creatures found in nature. I meticulously craft each piece one by one, pursuing a realistic beauty.

I create my art with deep care, aiming to gently touch the hearts of those living hectic daily lives. I hope my pieces offer a “moment when the heart suddenly feels lighter” or a serene “window of peace” whenever they are glanced upon.

Exhibited Works

At the End of the Blue Journey
¥88,000 (tax included)

Size: 450mm Round
Materials/Technique: Epoxy resin, natural sand, mixed media
Year: 2025

Crossing the shoreline to carry on life
This large circular work expresses the unwavering determination and powerful presence of a sea turtle heading to lay its eggs.

I meticulously crafted the central sea turtle by hand, paying close attention to every detail from its body lines to its expression, to create a realistic form with a unique sense of dynamism.

The sandy beach features three-dimensional footprints, etched to show each sure step forward.
I hope you will feel the pulse of life as it faces the harshness of nature, as well as the hope for the future that awaits at the end of this long journey, and that you will receive an energy that lightens your heart in your daily life.

Ao — 2026 Re-vamp —
¥55,000 (tax included)

Size: 300mm × 300mm
Materials/Technique: Epoxy resin, mixed media
Year: 2025

This work captures the beautiful form of a manta ray swimming gracefully yet powerfully through deep, clear waters.

With a focus on the refraction of light and the depth of a deep, vibrant “azure” that seems to draw the viewer in, I have layered multiple clear layers using my unique resin technique.
This brings out the dynamic trajectory of the manta ray’s swim and the pulse of life that seems to well up from the depths of the ocean in a three-dimensional manner.

Lovers island

Heartbeat Blue
¥44,000 (tax included)

Size: 300mm Round
Materials & Techniques: Epoxy resin, glass, mixed media
Series: Shimmer Glass Art
Year Created: 2026

This piece captures the dazzling, crystal-like shimmer of water’s surface bathed in sunlight, as well as the energy of life that seems to well up from the depths of the ocean.

As the title suggests, it captures a fresh, dynamic vitality—as if you can hear the “heartbeat” of the beautiful ocean—while also infusing a deep, clear sense of peace that allows you to forget the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The Window of the Morning Calm
¥44,000 (tax included)

Size: 300mm × 300mm
Materials/Technique: Epoxy resin, mixed media
Year: 2026

Using a wooden window frame finished with a warm, antique-style paint, I have created a “window overlooking a tranquil sea” amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life.

This piece depicts a gentle pink sea that gradually takes on the hues of morning light, a scene born from the passage of time.

The Window of the Evening Calm
¥44,000 (tax included)

Size: 300mm × 300mm
Materials/Technique: Epoxy resin, mixed media
Year: 2026

Using a wooden window frame finished with a warm, antique-style paint, I have created a “window overlooking a calm sea” amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life.

This piece captures the serene blue of dusk, which arrives slowly with the silence after the bustle of the day has faded.

Aftermath
¥11,000 (tax included)

Size: A4
Materials/Technique: Epoxy resin, natural sand, mixed media
Year: 2026

This work is inspired by the fleeting ripples left on a quiet sandy beach after a wave has receded.

With a focus on the delicate lines drawn by real sand and the texture of the receding water’s edge created by clear resin, I have three-dimensionally expressed the “traces” left behind after land and sea meet.

I have infused the piece with a gentle, quiet energy so that viewers can sense not only the visible waves themselves, but also the rich presence of the sea that was certainly there, as well as the stillness brought about by the ebb and flow of the tides.

Shoreline
¥6,600 (tax included)

Size: A5
Materials & Techniques: Epoxy resin, natural sand, mixed media
Year Created: 2026

We focused on capturing the fresh, fleeting sparkle created by the interplay of the texture of a real sandy beach and the gentle, transparent waves of clear resin.

While the size makes it easy to display even in small spaces, I have prioritized a realistic three-dimensionality and elegant form that makes it feel as though you can hear the soothing sound of waves every time you look at it.
