Yukiko Anma's Commitment

Many of my works focus on Showa-era retro and Japanese modern styles, and this is largely influenced by the paintings that hung in my childhood home.
I’ve always loved paintings that let you imagine the unpainted background and the daily life depicted within them. Ever since I was little, I’ve wanted to paint that kind of art.

Also, I’m a huge fan of Van Gogh and Monet, and I’m drawn to paintings that convey the atmosphere of the moment. It’s a world that can only be fully appreciated when viewed from a considerable distance.
Japanese homes are small, with a maximum width of two or three meters at most. So, I try to paint pictures that convey that atmosphere when viewed from two or three meters away.
